Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth completes a fantastic season by capturing the FedExCup title to headline a six-win weekend for Titleist golf balls across worldwide professional tours
Scripting a fitting finish to a phenomenal season, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth claimed a four-shot victory at the season-ending TOUR Championship to capture the lucrative FedExCup title. The 22-year-old young gun closed with a final round 69 en route to nine-under par, 271 victory total, to claim his fifth PGA Tour title of the season, including The Masters and U.S. Open, and returned to No. 1 position in the Official World Golf Rankings. Elsewhere, there were five further victories for Titleist golf ball loyalists across the European Tour, Champions Tour, Web.com Tour, Japan Tour and PGA Tour China respectively.
Spieth trusted Titleist equipment through his bag from tee-to-green, including a New Pro V1x golf ball, 915D2 driver, 915F fairway metal, 712U utility iron, AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM5 pitching, gap, sand and lob wedges, as well as a Scotty Cameron prototype putter. Spieth switched to the New Pro V1x and 915 driver after visiting Titleist's Oceanside Test Facility in California last November, before going on to post monumental victories at the Australian Open and Hero World Challenge.
With the victory, the American accumulated a PGA Tour record $22 million in winnings this year, finishing four strokes clear of three players tied for second, including Pro V1 loyalist Henrik Stenson. As well as being the choice of the champion, Titleist was also the top choice among the elite TOUR Championship field across every major equipment category, including golf balls (59%), drivers (31%), fairway metals (29%), hybrids (50%), iron sets (31%), wedges (32%), and putters (38%). Titleist golf balls were trusted by nearly six times more players than the nearest competitor. It also marked the 27th victory for Titleist golf ball loyalists through 46 events on the 2014-15 PGA Tour season, more than three times the nearest competitor with eight. Titleist players have also posted more victories in the iron (15), wedges and putter (19) categories than any other brand.
On the European Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Thongchai Jaidee (equipment listing below) relied upon the New Pro V1x golf ball and 716 AP2 prototype irons to capture his seventh Tour title with a one stroke victory at the Porsche European Open. Jaidee fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s en route to a 17-under par, 267 winning total. Titleist was the most trusted golf ball in the field of 156 with 100 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 18. This is the 19th win for Titleist golf ball players on the 2014-15 European Tour, nearly three times the nearest competitor with seven.
Elsewhere, it was a Titleist 1-2 at the Nature Valley First Tee Open where Esteban Toledo (Pro V1x) held off Tom Watson (Pro V1) by a shot for his third career Champions Tour title. On the Web.com Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Andrew Loupe (Pro V1x) claimed a two-stroke victory at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship to secure his PGA Tour card for next season. On the Japan Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador K.T. Kim (New Pro V1x) secured a three shot victory at the Asia-Pacific Open Mitsubishi Diamond Cup. On the PGA Tour China, Titleist Brand Ambassador Bryden Macpherson (New Pro V1x) claimed a three shot win at the Cadillac Championship.
