Leinster complete Under 16 and Under 18 double

Victory for Leinster in Athlone

  • 23 July 2015

Leinster completed a double on the final day of the Underage Interprovincial Matches in Athlone.

With Connacht having taken the Under 14 Interprovincials, Leinster looked well on course for the Under 18 title after taking a clean sweep in the foursomes in their title decider with Ulster.

In the Under 16 Interprovincials, however, after two matches the title could have gone to any of the four provinces, all of whom scored one victory and one defeat.

However, it was Leinster who held their nerve to defeat Connacht by the odd match in five, with Ulster's victory over Munster by the same scoreline seeing them come up, agonisingly, just short.

Meanwhile, the Under 18s completed their task by taking three of the seven singles points available for a 6-4 defeat of Ulster.

Munster defeated Connacht by the same scoreline - the basis for which was also a clean sweep in the morning foursomes.
