A single bogey on his card, accompanied by five birdies gave the man from Ardglass a boost heading into the weekend. He's joined on one-under par by David Carey who secured a place in the field thanks to a late call up from Team Ireland Golf. Carey added a one-under par round on Friday to his opening level par round.

They sit seven shots behind the runaway leader Oscar Lengden (Sweden) who signed for his second 68 of the week to lie on eight-under par.

Ruaidhri McGee signed for a 69, he sits on level par for the tournament with Chris Selfridge the only other Irishman to make the cut which fell at three-over par. Selfridge, who is recovering from a wrist injury, was level par today and made the cut right on the mark.

There was a rare missed cut for Gavin Moynihan who didn't get going, ending his week on five-over.

Kilkenny teenage amateur Mark Power fired a stunning round of 67 which included two eagles, however he won't be around for the final two rounds having opened with 83 on Thursday.
