Ireland lead at lunchtime during the first round of the Eisenhower Trophy after posting 10 under on the Montgomerie Course at Carton House.

Tramore's Robin Dawson carded a bogey-free round of 65 to help Ireland go top of the leaderboard. There were 69s for John Murphy (Kinsale) and Conor Purcell (Portmarnock) as the home side reached double digits and outperformed their playing partners.

Defending champions Australia finished at three under while the United States were one shot better.
