CLARIFICATION FROM GUI AND ILGU ON TRAVEL IN AND OUT OF RESTRICTED AREAS IN NORTHERN IRELAND
Please note that the advice issued by the Northern Ireland Executive last Thursday 10th September with regard to unnecessary travel in and out of the five restricted local areas has now been revised.
As a result, travel in and out of these areas for the purpose of playing golf is permissible. As a result, this guidance now replaces that issued by the GUI and ILGU last Friday.

Golf Clubs and Golfers in the following areas should note the Northern Ireland Executive's new restrictions, introduced for public health reasons, which will be monitored and reviewed on a weekly basis:
• Belfast City Council area
• Postcode area BT28
• Postcode area BT29
• The Town of Ballymena
• Postcode area BT43
You will note from this information that if you live in one of the affected areas you can travel in and out of the affected area, for example, to go to work, but it is recommended that you should avoid unnecessary travel. Unnecessary travel includes that to play golf.
Therefore, the Irish Ladies Golf Union and the Golfing Union of Ireland are seeking the co-operation of its clubs in Northern Ireland to implement these guidelines, even though they are not a legal requirement, in so far as its competitions are concerned
With regards specifically to the Golfing Union of Ireland (Ulster Branch) competitions, please note the following:
Max Hadden Trophy – Tuesday 15 & Tuesday 22 September 2020
Club Captains who live in the affected area are asked to contact Kevin Stevens or Nicola Gorman in the Branch Office ASAP - an alternative date will be provided for players to play in this competition in 2020.
Inter-Club Competitions
Branch Officials will be in contact with all clubs in each inter-club competition – where team members cannot comply with the new restrictions, a revised date for the completion of the current round will be provided. Matches not affected by the new restrictions MUST proceed as originally planned.
All golfers are requested to comply with these restrictions, while they remain in force, to help to protect the health of us all.
Further guidance for clubs will follow next week.
