Ireland's Tiarnan McLarnon secured a top-10 finish with a closing round of 70 at the Argentine Stroke Play Championship in Buenos Aires.

McLarnon tied for 9th place, ending the week at one under. Fellow international James Sugrue (Mallow) closed with 74 for a share of 21st place at Highfield Park Country Club.

It was McLarnon's second top-10 in Argentina having tied for eighth the previous week at the Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade. After a slow start at Highfield Park, McLarnon followed an opening 75 with back-to-back rounds of 70. He finished nine shots behind the winner, Germany's Marc Hammer.

Sugrue's best return came in round two at Highfield Park, when he posted a level par 72.
