The Golfing Union of Ireland have confirmed the number of automatic places available on Ireland teams at men's and boys' level in 2019.

The top three players on the Bridgestone Order of Merit - an increase of one from 2018 - will earn automatic selection on the Ireland team for the Home Internationals. The top four players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) are also guaranteed selection for the Home Internationals at Lahinch (11-13 September). For this year's European Amateur Team Championships, which take place in Sweden from 9-13 July, the leading Irish player on WAGR will earn automatic selection.

At boys' level, there are two automatic positions available for the European Boys Team Championship at Chantilly, France (9-13 July). Those positions will be filled by the top two players from a mini order of merit table, whereby players will earn points based on their finishing position at nine different events between April and June.

Six of the team for the Boys Home Internationals will also be decided automatically. The top three players on the domestic order of merit (Tom Montgomery Award) qualify automatically along with the top three players on the Bridgestone Boys International Order of Merit. The five remaining team members are chosen by the GUI's junior selection committee.
