Tom McKibbin stared down his opponents at Copt Heath on Thursday and landed the Peter McEvoy Trophy in style following a three-way playoff for the title.

Having finished the 72 hole championship on 7-under par, McKibbin was joined in the playoff by fellow Ulsterboy Aaron Marshall and Melun Dhaubhadel.

The playoff started on the 18th with each player holing putts for par to move on to the first hole proper.

McKibbin placed his drive into trouble off the tee, finding a bunker on the right side. His second was 25ft short but his third was majestic - playing over a greenside bunker McKibbin holed out for birdie and when his partners failed to make three he was crowned champ.

He follows in the footsteps of Gavin Moynihan of Ireland who won the event in 2012 and Mark Power (2016).
