Entries for the Irish Students Open (28-30 August) at Donegal GC remain open until Monday 5 August.

The cut off point for entrants has been extended until 2359hrs on Monday evening. Played over 54 holes, and formerly known as the Irish Youths, this championship boasts an illustrious list of winners. Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Seamus Power all have their names on the roll of honour. Last year, Ireland international Ronan Mullarney joined them, taking the title by a shot from his Maynooth University colleague Jack McDonnell at Tralee.

Donegal Golf Club at Murvagh is among Ireland's finest links. A spectacular setting, the course sits on a promontory that extends into the Atlantic Ocean. This championship was first played in 1969 at Laytown & Bettystown and has proved a stepping stone to greater things for many of its champions.

Now a mixed event, the top 42 male and the leading eight females progress to the final round after a 36-hole cut. A university team event runs concurrently. The two best scores each day (teams may have two or three players) count for the team's tally.
