Fitzgibbon playing off 5 carded a level par 70 covering the ouward nine in -3 33 picking up birdies at the 4th, 8th & 9th to go alongside his six pars. The back niine at Strandhill does pose a stiffer challenge and despite getting himeslf to -4 thru 12 two of those were immediately given back at the 13th with the 16th and 18th seeing his remaining under par score surrendered.

Nevertheless being able to complete a championship round in level par at the age of 14 is an astounding achievement and he is certanly a player for the future.

Three players Tied for second on +2, 72 with the order being decided on Break of Tie - Ewan McArthur (Massereene), Zak Collins (Douglas) and Dylan Smyth (Castle), the Best U13 on the day was Collins but given the 'One prize' rule this then went to Co. Sligo's Sean McLoughlin on +8, 78.

Niall Fleming (Tubbercurry) took Best nett with a -9 (61Nett).
