The GOLFSTYLE Boys U18 Kenny Cup event is one of the province's most popular and certainly best entered Junior Inter Club events annually.

The Stableford format with full handicap allowance enables Clubs give their developing young players an opportunity to aspire to be provincial champions even though they may not have reached the lower handicap brackets for their Fred daly peers.

At a wind and rain swept Galway bay Golf Resort the young boys of Athlone, Tuam and Westport took to the first tee with all the glee of those watching the ball for their first par or birdie despite the inclement weather.

It was the Tuam boys who prevailed with an aggregate of 68pts from their best two cards, a pair of 34s winning by 4pts from Athlone and Westport who could only be separated on the back 9 of their respective Best cards of 33pts, with Athlone taking the runners-up spot.
