The eagerly awaited event on the Bridgestone Willie Gill Order of Merit is the Radisson Blu Sligo West of Ireland Amateur Open from April 4 - 7 at the famed links of Rosses Point at County Sligo Golf Club.

It will be a somewhat unusual feel to proceedings in Sligo this year on two counts, firstly the Championship is not being played at Easter and secondly the Championship shall be played over 72 Holes of Stroke Play, no Matchplay.

Both of these decisions are one off for 2019 in order to accomodate the Club's hosting of the Flogas Irish Amateur Open May 16 - 19.

Our 2019 Championship has the potential to be very special with the cream of Irish talent assembling with Dundalk's Caolan Rafferty leading the way of +5.1. The handicap cut for the Championship has fallen at +0.3 in the 132 competitiot field, it was +0.2 in 2018.

Given the balloting conditions for the championship seven places will be on offer from the pre Qualifier which shall take place over 18 holes on the previous Sunday, 31st March. the handicaps in the qualifer range from +0.2 to 2.4 with Adrian Wynne (Strandhill) sneaking in at 2,4 to compete in his 40th West of Ireland.
