On a testing enough afternoon for golf it was Limerick's Lucas Lyons who quite simply swept aside the field returning an incredible -4, 68 to win by five strokes.

Lyons' nearest challengers were Aidan O'Carroll (Powerscourt) and Daniel McKenna (Laytown & Bettystown) both finishing on 73, +1.

Connacht's leading player was Co. Sligo's Aodhagan Brady on 75, +3.

Lyons turned in -3, 33 after birdies at the 1st, 8th and 9th, before a bogey 5 on the thirteenth slowed his progress. He rebounded immediately with a birdie 3 on 14 and closed out a stunning performance with a closing birdie 4 on the 18th.
