Loughrea Golf Club played host to the Connacht U18 Boys Open Championship from 2-3 September and despite weather interruptions Dylan Keating (Seapoint) came away with the Trophy.

Next it is the turn of Roscommon Golf Club as they host the Connacht U16 Boys Open Championship over 18 Holes Stroke Play on Saturday 11th September. Ninety players shall be competing for the Trophy.

Then just a week later we are back to East Galway where Portumna Golf Club host the Murray Timber Group sponsored Connacht Stroke Play Championship which boasts a stunning +1.3 handicap cut for the elite field of 75, headed by Kilkenny's Mark Power, recent Amateur Championship semi-finalist, playing off +5.

No sooner will the dust have settled on that weekend of golf than we travel a few miles over the road to Athlone and the 2020 AIG Cups and Shields Finals, where they shall host the finals over two days, Saturday & Sunday 26 & 27 September.

Saturday shall feature the AIG Junior Cup Semi-finals and Final as well as the AIG Pierce Purcell Final.

Sunday shall feature the AIG Senior Cup Semi-finals and Final and the AIG Jimmy Bruen Final.

A tremendous month of Golf in the West.

We do however have to caution that under the current Public Health Measures all these events are strictly behind Closed Doors - No Spectators.
