This was not the first encouter of Royal Curragh and Malahide as both sides met earlier in the year in the Pierce Purcell Leinster Finals.
At rain sodden Enniscorthy the final hung in the balance with Royal Curragh securing the first and fifth matches. Malahide quickly levelled matters winning the second and third matches.
The Malahide pair of Seamus Gallagher & Paraic Conlon playing in the second match got off to a great start with Seamus holing his tee shot at the 170 yard Par 3 first hole.
With the match tied at two all and match four level after 17 holes, nerve ends were tingling. Malahide were in the stronger position following their tee shots. Both teams found the green, with at that stage the match looking like it would go to the 19th. however John Delaney rolled his putt from all of 40 feet to within one foot of the cup to clinch the title for Royal Curragh with Malahide not getting down in two putts.
Sincere thanks to Enniscorthy GC and all their staff for hosting two finals at the weekend in very tough weather conditions.
