Results from Leinster Golf Annual Delegates Meeting 2017

​​​​110 Clubs (69%)  were in attendance at last night's ADM, held in the Castleknock Hotel.

This was the first year weighted voting was in operation allowing larger member clubs have more say.  

Presentations were made to the Winners of Order of Merits for 2017 as follows:-

Boys U14 Order of Merit – Joseph Byrne (Baltinglass)

Boys U16 Order of Merit – Alex Maguire (Laytown & Bettystown)

Youths U21 Order of Merit – Rowan Lester (Hermitage)

Boys U18 Order of Merit – Charlie Denvir (Elm Park)

Senior Order of Merit – Caolan Rafferty (Dundalk)

A presentation was made to Leinster Men's Team Captain, Seamus McParland (Greenore) in recognition of his successes with the Men's Interprovincial teams over the last three years. 

Tony Goode (Lucan) was also recognised as he completes his 4 year term in office as Irish Mens Captain for his valuable contribution to the International teams and for all they have acheived during this time.

Congratulations to Thos Hennessy of Carlow who was newly elected in the South & East Leinster zone.  All other Council Members are serving a 3 year term.

MOTIONS OF PROVINCIAL RELEVANCE

Proposed by the Leinster Provincial Council

"To delete the current Leinster Branch Bye-Laws last amended at the Annual Delegates Meeting in November 2016 and approve the amended Leinster Branch Bye-Laws dated 27th November 2017."

Result: Carried.


Proposed by Roganstown Golf Club

"With respect to the "Metropolitan Trophy and Provincial Towns Challenge Cup, that all entrants must play off current handicaps on the day of competition.  Lowest permissible

being 9".

Result: Defeated.


Proposed by Headfort Golf Club

That up to three members of the host club be given entry to all age-category (under-13, under-14, under-16, etc.) Open and Closed Championships held under the auspices of Leinster Golf once they meet the age requirement and are also members of a Leinster coaching panel.

Result: Motion withdrawn.

Motions of National Relevance
The results of Motions of National Relevance will be announced on Friday 1st December after all four Annual Delegates Meetings have taken place.


One Governing Body
An update was provided on the emerging proposals for a One Governing Body in Ireland following two years of work.  Details of the proposal have been presented to the Boards of the GUI and ILGU however work is required to further develop the emerging proposal over the coming weeks.
If the Boards are happy with the draft proposals, it will be issued to the four Provincial Councils for feedback.  Before the final proposal is put to a vote at an EGM, a comprehensive series of briefing sessions will take place for clubs.


CONGU Changes 2018
The National Handicapping Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 6th December and will consider the recently announced CONGU changes for 2018.  Full guidelines will be issued to all affiliated clubs on the transition from 31 December 2017 to 01 January 2018" after this meeting.  CONGU changes can be viewed on this link https://www.golfnet.ie/news/golfnet/2767/changes-to-handicap-system-announced
