Munster Seniors Amateur Open Championship
at Lee Valley Golf Club
22-23 August 2017

Play started underway this morning in misty conditions which cleared as the morning progressed. First on the tee Paddy Donachie (Cobh) and Murt O'Shea (Co Louth) at 7.50am with the last twoball teeing off at 1pm.

Sean O’Leary and the Irish Seniors selectors will be watching closely in Lee Valley this week as the Munster Seniors gets underway on Tuesday.  It’s one of the last opportunities for O’Leary to see some of Ireland’s top seniors in action as he prepares to select his team for the upcoming European Seniors Team Championship and the Seniors Home Internationals.  Close to 100 golfers will tee it up tomorrow in the first round of the 36 hole championship, with the first golfers out at 7.50am.  Irish Seniors Order of Merit leader John Mitchell (Tramore) was second in the Irish Seniors Open and he’s among the favourites for the competition.  Mitchell was runner-up in 2015 when Tom Cleary won his third title in Waterville.  Michael Quirke, Maurice Kelly, Pat Lyons and Billy Donlon will also be among those expected to feature.
