Choilm from Ballincollig won their first Munster Pennant today when they defeated
De La Salle Waterford in the Munster final of the Irish Schools Senior
Championship. Played in great conditions
in Castlemartyr, the final was a very competitive affair, with the match
swinging towards De La Salle early on before Colaiste Choilm came back
strong. De La Salle won the first two
matches, Rory Milne won on the 18th while Alex King won on the 17th. Zak Collins won on the 18th to put
a point on the board for Colaiste Choilm, and Jack Taylor added a second with a
4&3 win. It all came down to the
last match, Muskerry’s Stephen Riordan was one up playing 17, and when he won
that hole with a great birdie the match was over with the win going to the Cork
college. Both Colaiste Choilm and De La Salle had good wins in the morning
semi-finals, Colaiste Choilm beat St Francis College Rochestown while De La Salle
beat St Brendan’s Killarney.
