Jack Murphy (Douglas) eventually won the Ulster U14 Open Championship from Fionn Dobbin (Malone) in a pulsating round of golf at Donaghadee which ebbed and flowed and could have gone to either player.

Murphy struck a perfect second shot at the last for a tap in birdie 3, leaving with Dobbin needing to match his score, from 15 feet, to win the title. His putt slipped agonisingly past the hole to the right leaving himself and Murphy tield at level par with Greg Healy (Bray) an earlier finisher at 1 over par and eventually third.
In accordance with the Terms of Competition it was decided on a card countback, Murphy came out on top with a better back 2 holes – it could not have been closer.
