Stephanie Meadow will be competing in a field of 157 players this week, with the hope of gaining full status for the LPGA Tour in 2017. There are 20 full LPGA Tour cards up for grabs and 25 conditional status cards.
Stephanie is approaching the tournament with determination, but no heightened pressure as she already has 2017 conditional status.
After the Olympic Games in August, where Meadow finished in 31st place, she competed at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open, where she finished tied 10th, not far behind some of the best players in the world, including Ariya Jutanugarn, Karrie Webb and Lydia Ko. She followed this with a steady performance at the Manulife LPGA Classic in September 2016. She has also competed regularly on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and most recently finished in tied 14th on -9 at the 2016 Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open, Abu Dhabi. She is one of only nine Olympians playing this week.
Meadow is playing alongside Emily Tubert (California) and Anne-Catherine Tanguay (Canada) over rounds one and two. Play will alternate between the Hills and Jones Courses at Daytona Beach and Meadow plays the Hills course first on Wednesday 30 November.
There is hot competition this week, as well-known and proven players Beth Allen (USA), Mel Reid (England) and recent two time Ladies European Tour (LET) Champion, 18 year old Aditi Ashok (India) are all competing for LPGA status.
There will be a cut to the top 70 and ties after the fourth round and the final round will be contested on the Hills course.
Players that finish in the top 20 - no ties - will earn LPGA Tour status in category 12 on the 2017 priority list while those that finish 21 through 45 - including ties - will earn status in category 17. Players that finish a minimum of 72 holes, but don't earn LPGA Tour status, will receive Symetra Tour status in category E on the Symetra Tour priority list.
