Carlow Golf Club hosted the first scratch cup of the year on Saturday with an impressively strong field with internationals such as Paula Grant (Lisburn), Julie McCarthy (Forrest Little) and Valerie Clancy (Killarney) to name a few. However it was Paula who rose to the top to claim her first victory of the year with a score of 144 for the 36 hole competition. Valerie Clancy wasn't far behind on 148 followed by Mary Doyle (The Heath), Shannon Burke (Ballinrobe) and Sara Byrne (Douglas) who all finished with 150 for the day.

The Carlow scratch cup is the first in a series of scratch cup which are part of the scratch cup circuit, conditions of which can be found HERE. It also acted as a qualifying competition for an U16/U14 International friendly competition against Wales in April, details of which can be found below. The next scratch cup will be held in Royal Co. Down on the 2nd of April.
