Bronze Medal Play-Off
Ireland battled for a place on the podium as they overcame their German counterparts on Saturday. Wins for Sheena McElroy & Carol Wickham in the foursomes and Laura Webb and Suzanne Corcoran in the singles were enough for a Bronze place finish for the Irish. France were the overall winners as they beat England 3.5 - 1.5 in the final.

Semi-Finals
Irelands hopes of retaining their European title this morning were dashed as they lost 4-1 to England in the first semi-final of the morning. Laura Webb secured the only point for Ireland as she overcame Fiona Edmond in her singles match. Ireland now face Germany in the afternoon who were beaten by France this morning by the same margin.

Quarter-Finals
The Irish team's hopes of defending their European title are still on track as the team qualified in 5th position after 36 holes of stroke play, 13 shots behind leading qualifiers England. In their final 8 match the team overcame Belgium 4.5 - 0.5. The semi-finals match vs. England will take place tomorrow.

Captained by Headfort's Pauline Walsh for the second year, five of the six who assisted Ireland claim the top spot in 2016 return on this year's team. Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna), Sheena McElroy (Grange), Gertie McMullen (The Island), Carol Wickham (Laytown & Bettystown) and Laura Webb (East Berkshire) will be joined by Catherine Reilly (The Heath) who makes her debut appearance at the European Championships.
