Kajsa Arwefjall (Sweden) is Irish Girls’ Open Stroke Play Champion after a final round 74 in less than favourable conditions at Roganstown Golf & Country Club today.

Thirty-six hole leader Louise Rydqvist (Sweden) struggled to come to terms with the softer conditions and after opening her round with 4 bogey’s, her hopes of becoming Champion slipped.

Playing alongside Rydqvist, Marie Bechtold (Germany) took the lead after 6 holes but bogeys on 9 and12 brought her to 4 over par for the tournament. Meanwhile Arwefjall, who had held the lead after the opening round, birdied the par 5 10th to get to +3 for her tournament.

The rain began to fall again as the leading groups reached the closing holes. Arwefjall wasn’t affected however as she managed another birdie on the 15th which was enough to secure a 1 shot victory over her teammate Rydqvist.

Nicole Joyce-Moreno (Ireland) finished with birdies at 16 and 17 to finish tied ninth and best of the Irish.
