Following the ILGU District Senior Cup Qualifiers at the weekend, eight teams have now qualified for the All-Ireland Finals at Knock Golf Club this coming August.

In the Ulster final, Royal Portrush overcame Royal County Down. The first result was a 5&4 win for Portrush’s Hannah Henderson over Anne Ferguson and this was followed by somewhat of an upset as Lucy Simpson secured a 1 hole victory over Curtis Cup player Paula Grant. Naoimh Quigg then sealed the deal when she overcame Danielle McVeigh by the same margin and ensured that the Ulster pennant would yet again return to the Antrim club.

In the Munster final Killarney took on Lahinch for the second year running. The defending All –Ireland Champions secured wins from Mairead Martin, Valerie Clancy and Tracy Eakin to ensure the final two matches were called in as halved and the final score 4 points to 1 in favour of the Kerry team.

The Heath team made history again this year, winning the Mid Leinster title for the 2nd year in a row. Having won it for the first time in the clubs history in 2017, the team of Meadhbh Doyle, Molly Dowling, Mary Doyle. Shannen Brown and Catherine Reilly overcame 2016 All Ireland Champions Kilkenny once again by the closes of margins.

The Connacht Finals were held at Galway Bay where Athenry met Roscommon in the District final. Roscommon emerged as Connacht Champions once again following comfortable wins from Chloe O’Connor, Ciara Herward-Ryan and Mary Lalor.

Finally, it was a young Elm Park team who deprived The Island from winning 4-in-a-row at the East Leinster Senior Cup Finals at Malahide. While both Lauren Walsh and Gertie McMullen carded wins for the north Dublin side, Anna Foster, Emma Fleming and Mary Francis McKenna held their nerve meaning the final result was 3 points to 2 to Elm Park.

The All-Ireland Senior Cup finals will take place at Knock Golf Club on August 24th and 25th.
