ILGU Performance Programmes Announced

​​The High Performance and Horizon Panels are set for 2019 with applications open for Funded and U16 support

Details of the ILGU High Performance (HP) & Horizon High Performance (HHP) Programmes and panels for the 2018/2019 season have been announced and outlined below.

The Funded Performance (FP) and new U16 Development Programme have moved to an application based process in which the details are also outlined below.
 
HIGH PERFORMANCE
Aim
To produce world class players who consistently achieve podium finishes at international events
 
Objectives
- Create a process based environment which supports players to focus on the controllable as they strive to achieve excellence 

- Supply players with funded access to a world class coaching system that consists of in depth performance analysis and appropriate service provision delivered by world class coaches 

- Design training plans that meet the individual needs of the player and complimentary competition schedules which offer world-wide playing opportunities in appropriate WAGR events

HORIZON HIGH PERFORMANCE
Aim
To offer a holistic approach to player development and achieve notable performances at appropriate national & international events, whilst preparing players to join the High Performance Programme in years to come.
 
Objectives
- Provide young players, and their personal coaches, with access to expert holistic support from the ILGU Coaching Team

- Support young players, and their parents, in terms of psychology and lifestyle planning to equip them in negotiating the journey towards High Performance 

- Create a safe environment where young athletes are free to play golf and challenged to learn in order to enhance their skill-set

APPLICATION BASED PROGRAMMES

FUNDED PERFORMANCE
Aim
To encourage players to compete on the international stage and represent Ireland at international team events, while also pursuing personal goals.
 
Objectives
-  Empower players to become self-sufficient in the design and execution of their personal performance (training and competition) plan 

- Provide financial assistance that supports players’ participation in international amateur events
- Assistance reward managed by the HP Manager/Committee and appropriate to players planned program needs  

- Support players as they strive to balance competing at international level with commitments outside of the sport, such as careers and education.
- Work closely with the IIS in providing relevant transition support when appropriate
 
Application Process
Applications will be accepted from current & former international players and current junior interprovincial players. Players will be asked to write to david@ilgu.ie before the 23rd November outlining details of their ambitions for 2019 and beyond.
 
Please state clearly:
1) where you would like financial assistance, 
2) how much is required and
3) the effect this is intended to have on your performance. 
Please note that this funding should be for something outside your personal coaching program and should be designed to add to your skill-set/support your international tournament schedule.
 
All applications will be considered and must include the following information:
1) Aims and targets for upcoming season and beyond (up to 2021)
2) Assessment of previous seasons play, progress & achievements
3) Outline winter training program, details of service provision (lessons, strength & conditioning, psychology etc.) and how this tracks with your future targets
4) 2019 schedule including international events
5) Any relevant golfing references
Awards will be granted on December 3rd and any unsuccessful candidates will be furnished with feedback so they can attempt to apply again in 2020 if they chose to do so.
 
 
U16 DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Aim
To assist young female golfers in the first stage of their journey to becoming an international class golfer, using a strengths based approach.
 
Objectives
- Provide the panel with regular squad sessions/tournaments with Girls U-16 Coach
- Create a culture in-line with what will be experienced at the U-18 and elite amateur level
- To learn how to travel, compete, win and lose as a team whilst being aware and concentrated on the individual pillars of progression
- To develop an understanding of High Performance ethos & behaviours (individual and teammate) 
 
Application Process
Applications will be accepted from girls who are between the age of 12 – 15 (on 1/1/19) with a handicap of 5 or lower.
Players will be asked to write to david@ilgu.ie before the 23rd November outlining details of their ambitions for 2019 and beyond.
All applications will be considered and must include the following information:
1) Aims and targets for upcoming season and beyond (up to 2021)
2) Assessment of previous seasons play, progress & achievements
3) How much practice/training you currently do;
   - During school terms
   - During school holidays
4) What you want to get out of the programme and what you can add to the programme
Panel will be announced on December 3rd and any unsuccessful candidates will be furnished with feedback so they can attempt to apply again in 2020 if they chose to do so.
