The most recent event of the ILGU Scratch Cup Circuit took place at Royal County Down over the weekend where GB&I Curtis Cup member Paula Grant (Lisburn) won the Salver for the second time in her career.

Grant, a member of the ILGU High Performance Panel, fired scores of 73 and 70 for a nine under par total (143) and a significant lead from defending champion Deirdre Smith (Co. Louth) who finished in 2nd on 152 and Lucy Simpson (Massereene) who finished one shot further back again.

This year marked the 25th staging of the RCD Scratch Salver and past winners including Mary McKenna (Donabate) teed up on the world renowned links to mark the occasion. Grant, Beth Coulter (Kirkistown Castle) and Aine Donegan (Woodstock) have claimed the first three scratch cups of the year, but with 5 events yet to play the overall circuit is still wide open.

The players now travel to Woodbrook this weekend where, last year, Louise Coffey (Malone) pipped Molly Dowling (Lucan) and Smith on the back 18 to secure the title.
