Paula Grant (Lisburn) remains in pole position on the ILGU Scratch Cup Circuit at the halfway stage following the Woodbrook Scratch Cup over the weekend.

Grant, who won just a week ago at the Royal County Down event, had to settle for second this week behind fellow High Performance panellist Lauren Walsh (Castlewarden). Walsh will sit her Leaving Certificate exams in a couple of months’ time but it seems her time spent in the books is having little effect on her golf. The 18-year-old finished in 7th position at the Italian Amateur just last month and with scores of 74 and 71 – a three under par total, she secured her first victory of the 2019 season.

“Well worth the study break, Woodbrook Scratch Cup Winner,” she tweeted following her win.

Jessica Ross (Clandeboye) secured third spot behind Grant while Lucy Simpson (Massereene) and Elisa Corcoran (Grange) rounded the top five places.

The players now travel to Cork this weekend where, last year Louise Coffey (Malone) pipped Lauren Murray (Delgany) on a countback.
