Leading qualifier Beth Coulter (Kirkistown Castle) has safely booked herself into the last 16 of the Irish Girls’ Close Championship. Despite the wet and blustery conditions, Coulter built a significant early lead in the match and while Lauren Kelly (Ballykisteen) held three long putts in a row at the turn, Coulter signed the match off 6&4 to set up a match with Canice Screene (Hermitage) tomorrow morning. Screene, who faced Emma Thorne of Elm Park in her opening match, needed 23 holes to secure a result when Thorne posed a comeback late in the round.
