ILGU seeks new Ireland Captain and Manager

​​​ILGU invite expressions of interest for the positions of Ireland Women's Team Captain and Girls' Team Manager

The Board of the Irish Ladies Golf Union invite expressions of interest for the positions of Ireland Women’s Team Captain and Ireland Girls’ Team Manager.
(Period: 2020-2022)  

IRISH WOMEN’S TEAM CAPTAIN/SELECTOR
The role of the Women’s Captain/Selector is one of leadership and guidance, working as an integral part of the support team which includes the Women’s Coach and High Performance Manager.  The Captain/Selector will lead Ireland at European Team Championships and Home International Matches.

The Women's Captain/Selector will:
- Liaise with ILGU HQ and players regarding travel and tournament logistics prior to, during and post event
- Represent the ILGU and National Team at all official functions 
- Liaise with tournament officials and staff for the duration of the tournament
- Support the National Team Coach/High Performance Manager in the delivery of all elements relating to the performance of team members
- Be part of a 4 person selection committee, charged with selecting the Irish Teams for the above events. This involves attending events and training sessions/matches in co-operation with the National Coach and HP Manager

Skills/Experience Required
- Knowledge and understanding of the performance standard required for different events and an ability to report objectively on players current standard of play
- Played golf at international or interprovincial level, captained international or interprovincial teams or played another sport at elite level
- Demonstrated willingness to get involved and understand what is required 

The National Team Captain will attend the following events:
- European Team Championships (Women’s)
- Home International Matches (Women’s and Girls’)
- Other events/training dates in co-operation with the National Coach/HP Manager

Time Required: Approximately 16 days per annum

IRISH GIRLS’ TEAM MANAGER 
The Girls’ Manager will:
- Assist the Girls’ team captain at the Home International Matches for a period of up to 2 years, after which time, they will then typically become Girls’ Captain, taking on the same roles and selection responsibility as the Women’s Captain
- Represent the ILGU and National Team at all official functions 
- Liaise with tournament officials and staff for the duration of the tournament
- Support the National Team Coach/High Performance Manager in the delivery of all elements relating to the performance of team members

The Girls’ Team Manager will attend the following events:
- Home International Matches (Women’s and Girl’s)
- Other events/training dates in co-operation with the National Coach/HP Manager

Time Required (Girls manager): Approximately 10 days per annum

Remuneration
These positions are open to all members of ILGU affiliated clubs and are voluntary roles. All out of pocket expenses incurred in fulfilling the role will be reimbursed.

Background to ILGU Ltd.
The Irish Ladies Golf Union Limited is the governing body for Ladies and Girls golf in Ireland. The activities of the Company are managed by a Board of Directors and the National Head Office is based in Sandyford, Dublin. 
The Board is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategy for the sport, effective governance, organisation of national and interclub competitions, selection and training of Irish international teams and representing Irish female interests on various National and International organisations (Sport Ireland, Sport NI, The R&A, CONGU, European Golf Association etc.).
