Leinster Womens' Championship - Newlands GC

Shannon Burke (Ballinrobe) is Leinster Womens' Champion for 2018     and Ellen Lawlor (Naas) wins the Leinster Junior (Duggan Cup) Championship 2018

  • 27 July 2018

Shannon Burke (Ballinrobe GC) accepts the Leinster Womens' Champions Trophy from Jackie Quinn, Chair of East Leinster District ILGU

Shannon Burke, the leading qualifier and winner of the Josephine Connolly Salver produced a magnificent display of sub par golf to over come Irish Close Champion Sara Byrne and win her first Womens' Championship.  In the Duggan Cup Ellen Lawlor (Naas) continued her good form and also produced excellent golf in challenging wet conditions against the local girl Leonie Colgan (Newlands) by a margin of 4 & 2.

This promises to be a great final when the Leading Qualifyer Shannon Burke from Ballinrobe takes on the Irish Womens Close Champion Sara Byrne from Douglas.   In the Duggan Cup final we have the local favourite Leonie Colgan of Newlands GC playing Ellen Lawlor of Naas GC.  Suspect there could be a big turnout for this match.. Hope they all have some dry wetgear!
