It is often overlooked in putting but the strike is imperative.
In order to putt consistently we must make consistent contact.
The first thing to do is put chalk or aerosol spray on the face of your putter. This will not damage the putter and it will allow you to see where you are striking the ball. Once you have found out where your strike point is, try to get it closer to the centre of the club face.
A trial and error experiment is to line up three golf balls and purposely strike the ball out of the toe of the club face. Then line up another three balls and strike the golf balls out of the heel of the club face. Repeat once again except try to hit the ball out of the centre of the club face.
Look for the differences in these shots. You may notice a difference in the sound and the feeling or the vibration; the movement of the club head; and the distance and direction of the golf balls.
GOLFNET TIP: Practice hitting your putts off the centre of the club face.
